A Carnival of Food with Hoppin’ Brews & Rockin’ Bands
Saturday, May 30, 2015 1 pm – 6 pm
The York Revolution, Traditions Bank and Eventive have announced a brand new, free-admission food festival on the Brooks Robinson Plaza at Santander Stadium. The schtick is food on a stick. Top-notch brews, regional bands and Revolution-caliber entertainment will accompany the local restaurants serving skewer-pierced specials.
Local restaurants, food trucks and craft brewers are selectively invited to serve up their best for a chance at the title of “Brews & Skews Best of the Year.” Vote for your top brew & skew special earning acclaim for your favorite brews and food.
“Eventive came up with a creative way to laugh at the cold last winter with FestivIce,” said Mike Kochenour, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Traditions Bank. “Now, they’ve put their imagination to work again to usher in the summer season with another all new event. We’re really thrilled to be a part of bringing fresh, fun ideas like Brews & Skews to the York community. We continue to be extremely pleased with the relationship we’ve established with Eventive and the York Revolution.”
Restaurants slated for the event include Mudhook Brewing Company, White Rose Bar & Grill, Baron Von Schwein, York City Pretzel Company, Tutoni’s Restaurant, Soul Burrito, YorKitchen and Wolfgang Candy. Keep your eyes peeled at BrewsAndSkews.com for the latest entries.
Brews & Skews is bringing in some of the heavy hitters and local heroes in craft beer. Names like Lancaster Brewing Company, Deschutes, Liquid Hero, Leinenkugel, Mudhook, Samuel Adams, Lagunitas, Dogfish and Yards will be on the plaza to wash down your kabobs. The tested and true will battle it out in a craft brew popularity contest.
“When Memorial Day rolls around, summer vacation is the first thing on our minds,” said Adam Nugent Director of Eventive, the special events division of the York Revolution. “Traditions Bank and Eventive are bringing a really cool “staycation” option right here to York in the form of a free-admission local food and craft brew festival on Brooks Robinson Plaza.”
Admission is free so you can enjoy the entertainment and pay as you go. Restaurants will each offer a la carte items along with one skew special. Skew sampler tickets give you a tasting of six skew specials and brew sampler tickets provide six brew tastings. With each brew ticket, you get to take home the official Brews & Skews tasting mug. 16oz. domestic beer will be available for purchase as well. Sampler tickets are available May 1.
Food and brew sampler combos are available at a discount before the event. Visit BrewsAndSkews.com for the biggest savings from May 1 to May 20. Save up to $8 on event-day prices. Visit any Traditions Bank branch to purchase your Brews & Skews tickets for the best deal around — $21 for the Double Skew Sampler from May 1 until May 30.
Brews & Skews has partnered with CGA Law Firm to bring you three rockin’ bands. The action on-stage begins at 1 p.m. when gates open.
- 1 p.m. – Lindsey Erin
- 3 p.m. – The Silks
- 5 p.m. – Shane Speal’s Snake Oil Band
Other entertainment includes:
- Black Rhino Laser Tag: This is quick draw-style laser tag — reminiscent of the Wild West. Take your paces, turn, and beam your buddies to find out who has the quickest draw in the crew.
- Click-Flash Photo Booth: Pull the curtain on the “Click-Flash” costume photo booth. Selfies are cool, but the Click-Flash booth lets you build your look and share with friends.
- Kabob stilt walker: What’s better than food on a stick? A guy walking on giant kabobs, of course. More entertainment is TBA.
