Since 2011, Traditions Bank has awarded 75 scholarships through our Her Traditions Scholarship Program, where we emphasize supporting local women who lean into leadership. In addition to demonstrating outstanding academics and meaningful community service, each scholarship recipient has taken on notable leadership roles in their schools and organizations. It is important to celebrate women in leadership to encourage and inspire the recipients and the next generation of women leaders.
The scholarship program is growing, and Traditions Bank is proud to expand our reach to include women in Lancaster and the Capital Region as part of our growing community footprint. Director of Her Traditions, Nicole Shaffer, notes, “Year after year the scholarship review committee is incredibly impressed with the caliber of the applicants. We’ve heard from our community how much support there is for these scholarships, and we’d love to have an even bigger impact. That’s why we were excited to introduce the Her Traditions Scholarship CD.”
An innovative banking product that supports women, the Her Traditions Scholarship CD provides a platform for customers to earn interest while supporting the program at no cost to them. Traditions Bank will add an additional 0.01% from the collective balance of deposits in this special CD to the Her Traditions Scholarship fund, based on deposits received through September 30, 2023, into the Her Traditions Scholarship CD, Traditions Bank is committed to adding up to $10,000 to its scholarship fund in 2024.
In highlighting the impact of a Her Traditions scholarship, we are proud to have each of our recipients share a few words about their plans and why it’s important to support women. In a snapshot from her video, Bea Angela Ricafort shares, “As a woman of color involved in the scientific disciplines, I would often be discouraged to explore my femininity. Our patriarchal society regards it as a weakness. Femininity is not weakness – it is power. However, we must continue to recognize strong female leaders who are not afraid to explore their femininity.”
